Aide of the Year Awarded to New Outlook Homecare
May 29, 2018
New Outlook Homecare’s caregiver, Rachel Constant, has been awarded Aide of the Year through the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts. The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 19th at the Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, MA. Congratulations to Rachel on this well-deserved award.
Rachel grew up in Haiti and has been in the USA for the past seven years. She has been a Home Health Aide with New Outlook Homecare for over six years. She first got interested in the homecare industry in Haiti after taking care of her dying grandma. That experience stuck with her and made her want to work with the elderly as a profession. Rachel believes that working with New Outlook Homecare is the best decision a person can make. “It’s a great company” and it has given her the opportunity to care and love the elderly on a daily basis.
Rachel has worked with a number of clients throughout her tenure with New Outlook Homecare. She is attentive, punctual and responsible. The clients that she’s worked with have had dementia, Alzheimer’s, cancer, heart failure and are fall risks. With each client, Rachel has had a positive attitude and currently works on an hourly, live-out basis. She is always willing to put the clients first and is quite flexible when it comes to her schedule. She’ll offer to work a double shift and weekends if needed and if it is in the best interest of the client. She’s a team player in that regard.
Rachel’s responsibilities have included getting the clients up in the morning, bathed, dressed, fed. She assists them with their medications, toileting, and hygiene. She’ll spend time with them, play cards with them and take them to activities within their assisted living facilities. One client, in particular, can be stubborn and doesn’t always like to get out of bed. However, when Rachel arrives she can get him to engage and he often will participate in activities with her and his family.
Pearly Evans, owner of New Outlook Homecare, says that Rachel is “one in a million.” “There is no one like her.” “She’s one of my best aides.”
Rachel also has expressed interest in advancing her professional degree and is taking courses to further her knowledge base and education. She is inquisitive and patient and listens to the clients, their families and other healthcare providers as to the best and most efficient care she can give to each client so that they may live their life safely and fully.Read More Testimonials
